If you see a snake at home, here is what to do:
Some more things to remember:
If you know where the snake last was, our snake catcher can find it much faster when they get there. We will stay on the phone with you. We will tell you what to do. We will explain everything.
The Mount Druitt area is an older part of Western Sydney. Most of the houses were built a long time ago. The streets sit on top of land that used to be paddocks and bushland. The creeks and drainage channels that run through the area are still there. Snakes have always lived along these waterways. They were here before the houses were.
In this part of Western Sydney, the main waterway is Ropes Creek. Ropes Creek and its smaller channels run through the whole Mount Druitt area. They join up with other creeks like South Creek and Eastern Creek. Snakes use these waterways to move around. They follow the creeks to find food, water and shelter.
The houses in the Mount Druitt area also help snakes in their own way. Old sheds with lots of stuff stored in them are good hiding places. Old garages with gaps under the door let snakes in. Long grass along back fences gives them cover. Pools and ponds give them water. Mice and rats around chicken coops and pet food give them something to eat. None of this is anyone’s fault. It is just how older suburbs are. Snakes find what they need.
There are three reptiles we get called about most often in the Mount Druitt area.
Eastern Brown Snake. This is the snake we catch the most. Brown snakes are highly venomous. They are fast. They like to hide in sheds, garages, garden beds and along fences. They eat mice and rats. If you have lots of mice or rats around your house, you can get brown snakes. Do not get close to a brown snake. Step back. Call us.
Red-bellied Black Snake. This is the second most common snake we catch in the Mount Druitt area. Red-bellied black snakes are venomous, but they are usually less aggressive than browns. They like wet places. You find them near creeks, pools, ponds and thick garden beds. They eat frogs. Step back. Call us.
Blue-tongued Lizard. This is not a snake. It is a lizard. People often think it is a snake because it is big and it flattens out when it is scared. Blue-tongues are friendly. They do not bite people. They eat snails and slugs in the garden. They are actually helpful. We come out and check that it is a blue-tongue, not a snake, and we move it if you need us to.
These are the spots where we find snakes most often at Mount Druitt area homes:
If you have any of these spots at your house, that is where we will look first.
The snake sprays and powders you can buy at the hardware store do not work. Do not waste your money. Some companies sell ultrasonic devices that they say keep snakes away. Those do not work either.
What does help:
None of this means you will never get a snake. But it helps a lot.
If there is a snake inside your house, call us straight away on 1300 599 938. This is an emergency. We come out as fast as we can.

When we come to your house, we do not panic. We do not judge you. We do not make you feel bad. Do you really come to all those suburbs?
Yes. We come to Mount Druitt, Whalan, Tregear, Bidwill, Willmot, Shalvey, Hebersham, Lethbridge Park, Emerton, Hassall Grove and everywhere else in the Mount Druitt area. We are there every week through summer.
What kind of snake will I see in my yard?
Most likely a brown snake. The Eastern Brown Snake is the most common snake in the Mount Druitt area. The red-bellied black snake is also common, especially near creeks and pools.
How fast can you get to my house?
We send the catcher closest to you. We have catchers in this area all the time. We get there as fast as we can. We always come faster if there is a snake inside your house or near children.
What does it cost?
Call us and we will tell you. Prices change depending on where you are and what is happening. We will tell you the price before we come out.
Can I just kill the snake myself?
No, please don’t. It is against the law in NSW to kill native snakes. It is also very dangerous. Even small snakes can bite you. Call us. Let us handle it. That is our job.
